Upcycling is the new Recycling

Today is upcycled outfit day!
I have been on this kick lately of taking shirts that suck and making them into shirts that don't suck.
Take this one:  It's a generic turtle neck from Target.
I had to loosen the neck a little, which entailed seam ripping and a few whip stitches but if you are smaller in the chest than I am this should work fairly well for you.
Just put your arms through the neck, fold over, and then tie the sleeve s into a bow.
You have to do a little adjusting and tucking with the extra fabric up top but nothing too challenging!

I'm into it!

Things I'm super into right now:
 Bohemian-esque clutches.
Now to just remember to pick them up after I set them down somewhere...
Mens' watches, cologne, and t-shirts.
Mens' watches make the best bangles.
Cologne as perfume is my new favorite thing.
And what is better than finding a wear your boyfriends t-shirt during the day?
Acid wash, super distressed, skinny jeans.
Hellloooo 80's!
Weird boot/heel combo's.
I don't even know what I would wear these with.
I just know that I want some.

Whoa buddy!

Kinda been a while, huh?
I've been having some computer issues and took a trip home to Iowa so at least I have a sort-of decent excuse.
In other news, I got a sweet new jacket!
I almost didn't buy it, mostly because I didn't actually think I would wear it but it's become my new favorite thing.
I love anything nautical and this has some pretty adorable gold anchor buttons on it.

I also got my hair to the color red that I want.  Now I just have to preserve it!

This is Jackie, by the way, the friend that was moving out.  She took my pictures for me this time around.
AANNNND while I was in Iowa, I realized that I was missing one very important element here at High Heels and Cigarettes:
LAUREN FREESE
She gets a lot of credit when it comes to how I dress and my interest in fashion.
Now to just get her to not take pictures at work!

Bang! BangBang!

I love straight-across bangs.  I would like to have them all the time but the upkeep is more than I can handle most of the time;  Luckily I know my way around a pair of scissors!
Jon took too many good pictures today and I couldn't chose so I just posted pretty much all of them.  I've been wanting to feature these heels for a long time but it seemed like every time I wore them, I didn't post.  Same goes for these amazing Levi's jeans.
They are super comfortable and they make my butt actually look good which is almost impossible for anything denim.

This is Ned.  He works at the shop with me.  Sometimes he's pretty stylin'
Plus he has pretty eyes in this picture.  Who knows, maybe I can get him a girlfriend with this.

And finally a nice picture of me and the man-candy from the Sweet 16 party a couple weeks ago.
He looks so freakin' good in a suit!

Who said corsets aren't day wear?

Nothing in the entire world makes me feel sexier than a corset and some rockin' heels.
Sorry about the creepy lighting in the first one; I didn't have enough pictures to use anything else.

Distressed skinny jeans
Shiekh faux-suede pumps
(I can't stop wearing these shoes)
Moving into my new house on Tuesday!  Who's excited?  This chick!

You can watch her strut...

Hello wonderful, adoring, and non-existent fans!
Summer is here and I am definitely enjoying it.
I knew these shoes were a great buy; The color is awesome.
Also, any sort of white pant is my new favorite thing.
They go with EVERYTHING.

Levis White Denim shorts
Shiekh faux-suede pumps

By the way, if you haven't yet, you totally need to pick up this CD:
It's the best thing that's happened to my ears in a while.
Happy Tuesday!

My bad!

First of all, I'm sorry.
It's been like three weeks or some ridiculous amount of time since I posted; not that anyone reads this but, nevertheless, I still feel the need to apologize.
However, my time has not been spent resting on my laurels.
I had an event with Tattered Dolls
and On Any Moto, to raise awareness and money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
They let me actually sit on the motorcycles which was pretty sweet.
(I love lace tights)

Also, I helped plan a Sweet 16 party for my boyfriends sister.
All of that plus a cold, trying to find a new house, getting a friend from Houston to Tucson, planning a trip home to tattoo, and sleeping it's been pretty hectic.

I hope you all forgive me! On that note, let's talk about everything that I love lately.

So, I bought these heels for the aforementioned birthday party; I am in love with them.
They're super fuzzy faux-suede with a hidden platform.
The top of the toe is a little more pointy than it looks in the picture, which makes them even more amazing. They're basically the perfect pump. Now I just have to go back and buy them in all of these colors. Especially the nude tone.

Bangles have been a huge trend this spring//summer, which I love.
They're super chunky and clanky and make casual clothes look a little more classy.
Plus they never really have to match anything, which makes them a pretty much perfect accessory.
Unfortunately for me, my job isn't really bangle friendly, they get in the way of my gloves.
Luckily I've found a way around this problem: Making bangles into arm bands.
My favorite is this one I picked up last Halloween at a thrift store down on 4th..

Another thing I'm looking forward to this summer is all of the strappy sandal-style heels and platforms.
It seems as though accessories have taken a turn towards the steam-punk genre; Everything is bronze and leather and wood with tons of rivets and embellishments.

And my top picks from New York Fashion Week:

Cathleen Herrera Spring 2010                                          March Jacobs Spring 2010

And last but not least, Taylor Momsen.  She's definitely my kinda chick.
st of things that I love; Taylor Momsen.
I adore her style.
Thanks for being so patient with me! More to come this week.. :)
